Summary: Implement and maintain our safety program to assure the highest possible degree of safety for our Construction Managers, End Users, and Employees (customers).

 

Essential Functions including the following, but not limited to the below.

Lead by Example:

·        Maintain high job site visibility

·    Coach workers (including foremen, superintendents and project managers) with productive, safety culture building techniques

·   Develop Safety Alerts and Lessons Learned for field training based on identified topics, incidents, or other relevant sources

·   Perform industrial hygiene monitoring as needed (silica, lead, hex-chrome, welding fume, confined space, noise, and other chemical exposures)

 

Build Lifelong Partnerships:

·        Support and build the Grote Family of Companies Safety Culture

·   Build solid relationships with the customer's operational and safety personnel ensuring a seamless safety operation at site level

·        Assist field personnel with the development of Job Safety Analysis’s (JSA’s)

·        Conducts jobsite new hire orientations

·        Works directly with the Corporate Safety Director to coordinate company safety programs

·         Maintain continual contact with project Construction Manger Safety representatives to provide beneficial outcomes for CCIP/OCIP injury claims

 

Act with Integrity:

·      Manage the safety program on job sites as determined by the Safety Director, Project Manager or by the requirements of the contract it is deemed necessary

·        Conducts regular jobsite safety inspections and shows a strong presence in the field

·        Analyze and report on all jobsite incidents (accidents, “near misses”, equipment damage)

·        Will be responsible for the upkeep of all job site safety related paperwork

 

Put People First:

·        Coordinate our employee injury care with the occupational medical treatment providers

·        Follow up on the status of injured workers work restrictions and job assignments on projects

·         Conduct safety training, including various OSHA regulations, rough-terrain forklifts, rigging, and fall protection

 

Challenge the Ordinary:

·          Identifies and anticipates safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying job site, work practices, operational,

and occupational conditions

·          Assure daily safety planning is occurring on job sites

·          Assist in developing Safety Performance Requirements (SPR's)

·          Recommends and implements procedures on how to prevent future incidents

 

Education Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or related field highly desirable
  • 3-7 years safety experience in the construction industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience can be substituted
  • Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) or qualified to test and pass certification within 4 months

Work Experience Requirements:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong customer care and communication skills and must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field and office personnel required. 
  • Strong PC skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and Online platforms are required.
  • Schedule for work hours may be 6:00 am - 2:30 pm (5-8's) or 6:00 am -4:30 pm (4-10's) depending on project schedule.

Physical Demands:

  • At times, you may be required to bend, stoop, crawl, or lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must be physically able to negotiate the difficult conditions often encountered on job sites. This includes the occasional need to climb steep stairs, climb ladders, ride in scissor lifts and boom lifts, and work in hot and cold environments.
